Haven Skate Art Auction

By xnbsx

Sunday August 24 No Image played a show at the Haven Skate Park in North Haven/Hamden.

The Vultures started playing shortly after I arrived and it was the second time I have ever seen them play, and I can say is wow. They are a great mix of SoCal Surf Punk, and Hardcore in my opinion. Warren their guitarist sure can shred too. They were really tight and the only thing that I wish they had was a singer. Warren does a great job with the songs that he does sing on, but everything else is just instrumentals. I turned to Toby mid-set and told him how great they would be if Sam McPherters lived in CT and sang for The Vultures. It would be brilliant.

Black Noise Scam were up next (with Warren on guitar again! What a treat!). They are a really good mix of Black Flag / Old NYHC, and sounded really good. They opened up with SOIAs ‘Clobberin Time’, and minus the best little drum fill in a HC song, they nailed it (including essential use of bass chords). I can’t help too but think of a huge Tony Erba influence with the vocal style and sound, weather intentional or not. Big thumbs up.

No Image was up next. Anytime I play I am usually in a haze and time goes by way to quickly and I don’t remember shit. Same this time.

All in all there was some good skating, ramp jumping and hanging out, along with some really awesome arts and crafts.

Kudos to the dude in the Agnostic Front ‘One Voice Tour 1992′ Tshirt. It was really tough not asking him if I could literally buy the shirt off his back.
