Get this record. Perfection. Embodies everything that’s great about Hardcore Punk.

Edge of the Woods Food Report 8/28/08

August 30, 2008

So today at 1710 I stroll in after a hard day at Yale dealing with moronic subcontractors and am greeted by some great choices in/on the hot buffet counter.

I chose some Vegan Augratin Potatoes and Cauliflower (yummy!), and the Seitan Pepper Steaks.

Add to that Maine Sarsapari Soda and a Vegan Blondie and I’m a pig in shit.

Haven Skate Art Auction

August 26, 2008

Sunday August 24 No Image played a show at the Haven Skate Park in North Haven/Hamden.

The Vultures started playing shortly after I arrived and it was the second time I have ever seen them play, and I can say is wow. They are a great mix of SoCal Surf Punk, and Hardcore in my opinion. Warren their guitarist sure can shred too. They were really tight and the only thing that I wish they had was a singer. Warren does a great job with the songs that he does sing on, but everything else is just instrumentals. I turned to Toby mid-set and told him how great they would be if Sam McPherters lived in CT and sang for The Vultures. It would be brilliant.

Black Noise Scam were up next (with Warren on guitar again! What a treat!). They are a really good mix of Black Flag / Old NYHC, and sounded really good. They opened up with SOIAs ‘Clobberin Time’, and minus the best little drum fill in a HC song, they nailed it (including essential use of bass chords). I can’t help too but think of a huge Tony Erba influence with the vocal style and sound, weather intentional or not. Big thumbs up.

No Image was up next. Anytime I play I am usually in a haze and time goes by way to quickly and I don’t remember shit. Same this time.

All in all there was some good skating, ramp jumping and hanging out, along with some really awesome arts and crafts.

Kudos to the dude in the Agnostic Front ‘One Voice Tour 1992′ Tshirt. It was really tough not asking him if I could literally buy the shirt off his back.

Thanks for good times

Thanks to Kyle, Darcy, Will, Danielle and Ashley for a really good time this past weekend.

Beaching it up, eating and just hanging.

And the more I goto East Rock in New Haven, the more I love it.

Bad Cop, Bad Store Owner: Part One

August 6, 2008

So we all know how much getting parking tickets suck. And even though we all understand why an officer is giving one (they are just doing their job), it really gets me all worked up when it’s not the cop that gets me the ticket.

On my car window today was a $25 parking ticket, because I was parked for more than the allowed two hours. For people who don’t know, Mystic NEVER enforces this or gives out tickets. It’s more of an honesty policy.

Yes I broke that policy, although really only by a couple of hours, on a Tuesday nonetheless. But, I never thought that I would get turned in and ratted out by one of my own.

On my ticket the cop wrote “civilian complaint, tires marked at ….”! Someone actually called the cops to complain I had been parked there! WTF!

For those that know my dealings with my work truck and parking, they know how ticked off this makes me.

This week I will be approaching the “civilian” that I believe to be the rat.

Second part soon…,,

Installing a water efficiant toilet is such an easy choice. I mean, honestly; do you even have to think twice?
